How to use the Favicon Generator

  1. Upload a square image, ideally at least 512 × 512 pixels. PNG or SVG works best.
  2. Choose how non-square images fit, a background color and your site name for the manifest.
  3. Check the previews at small sizes — simple shapes read best at 16 pixels.
  4. Download the ZIP, upload the files to your site's root folder and paste the HTML snippet into your <head>.

Why use the Favicon Generator?

A favicon is the small icon people see in browser tabs, bookmarks, Google search results and on phone home screens. A blurry or missing favicon makes a site look unfinished. Different devices request different sizes, so this generator creates the full set — 16, 32 and 48 pixel icons, a favicon.ico, a 180 pixel Apple touch icon and 192 and 512 pixel icons for Android — together with a site.webmanifest and ready-to-paste HTML. All processing happens in your browser.

Frequently asked questions

I use WordPress. Do I need the HTML snippet?

Usually not. Go to Appearance → Customize → Site Identity → Site Icon and upload a 512 × 512 image; WordPress creates the main sizes for you. Use this generator when you need the full file set or a custom setup.

What image works best?

A simple, bold mark on a square canvas. Detailed logos and thin text become unreadable at 16 pixels, so consider using just your initial or symbol.

Why does the Apple touch icon have a background?

iOS shows transparent areas of home-screen icons as black, so the 180 pixel icon is filled with your chosen background color.

Why can't I see my new favicon yet?

Browsers cache favicons heavily. Try a hard refresh or a private window. Search engines update favicons on their own schedule.
